Long Term Lets in Javea, Moraira and Benitachell

pound hits seven-year high

If you want a holiday home in the sun or relocate to Spain then a leading rental agent in Javea is saying to make the move now as on the 2 January the pound has hit a seven-year high versus the euro, at 1.2911 – so it will cost you less.

VillaMia, established over 10 years ago, has seen long term rentals steadily increase to an all time high. Michelle Hughes, owner of the agency specialising in long term rentals and property management, said: "This is good news for people in the UK wanting to move over because when you exchange currencies for your rental, you will receive far more euros.  For example, if you were to exchange £1,250 for a Javea villa rental, you will now receive over €200 more than if you'd done so back in March 2013, when the pound was far weaker.”

"This means renting a decent property in the area is now much more affordable than any time in the recent past. From a currency point of view, it's the ideal time to rent a Spanish property.”

www.villamia.net has over 130 properties available for long term rental range from just 250 euros a month for a 2 bed apartment to 3,600 euros a month or a luxury 6 bed villa. Most properties are available for the full year but you can also do a shorter period.

Michelle added: "I moved to Javea from South Wales almost six years ago and it´s the best thing I could have done. My son was eight at the time and quickly settled into international school. I would urge anyone thinking about it to come over and try.

"Javea is a fantastic place to bring up children.  It is safe and children stay younger for longer plus there is a good selection of local and international schools. Some other reasons to move to Javea include the lovely sandy beach and various other hidden beaches.  I love the view of the Montgo mountain which you can also climb.  Plus,  I understand we have over 300 days of sun, there is a fantastic selection of restaurants, not forgetting the Spanish food including paella and tapas,  wine is so reasonably priced  – only a few euros a bottle and the maddest fiestas you can imagine including jumping over fires. There are also lots of places closeby - Benidorm with its theme parks only half an hour’s drive away and Javea is located between the cities of Alicante and Valencia which are fantastic for a weekend away. For me, I love the simple culture where the only thing to do on a Sunday is to relax, eat and socialise.  Also there is very little traffic and therefore, air pollution.

"If I have tempted you then please get in touch. If you can’t find your ideal property on the website then we will work closely with other reputable agents in the area – saving you time and stress and providing you with more choice and make sure we find you a lovely home. We can also help with everything from removals and buying a car to school registration and setting up a bank account.”

Peter Lavelle, a foreign currency broker for Pure FX, added: "The great news is that the pound may rise even higher versus the euro in 2015, because the Eurozone looks set to enter a period of deflation. We offer expert currency advice so if you want more information, you can visit me at Pure FX, call me on +44 (0) 1494 671800, or email peter.lavelle@purefx.co.uk.”
